Greenwing Valley, or Boa Vista as it is locally known, is situated about 30km from Gilbues, Piaui, Brazil.
It is home to Mauro and his family who have owned the land for many generations. The valley is seasonally verdent green framed by dramatic red sandstone cliffs. It is abundant with wildlife featuring the Brown Capuchin Monkey and Macaws including Blue-and-gold, Red-and-green, and Red-bellied. The Red-legged Seriema, King Vulture, the Toco Toucan, common Potoo and the South American Rhea. Nearby there is also habitat ideal for Jaguar.

The family of Brown Capuchins have just been featured in BBC1s new natural history series "Life". They display amazing intelligence and dexterity in cracking palm nuts with stone 'hammers' on anvils. Super slow motion Photron cameras were used to film the cracking in order to show the effort put into the technique.

Programme one of the series got 7 million
viewers in UK. If you missed it, the series will
be available on DVD and Blue-ray late
November 2009.
